ABOUT THE ARTIST

Daniel Crooks presents four video works installed in Symphony Woods. The result of the artist’s continued fascination with the physical properties of time, his works are imbued with the rigor of mathematics and the gentle metaphysics of photography and the moving image. He manipulates digital footage as though it were a physical material by using a process that he refers to as a “time slice.” The elasticity of his videos takes us through multiple worlds and shifts our perception of space and time. Crooks has shown work at the Tate Modern, the Centre Pompidou, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, among others.
